Your toothbrush is a great oral hygiene tool that can clean your teeth and help you keep cavities and gum disease at bay. It can help you in a myriad of ways. Little did you know, there is more to your toothbrush than that. In fact, there are some interesting toothbrush facts you probably don’t know. Dr. Henry Espinosa would like to share those facts with you so you can better understand your toothbrush. Those facts are:
-It’s recommended to use a toothbrush that has the American Dental Association stamp of approval.
-It’s best to use a soft-bristled toothbrush.
-The toothbrush is 5,000 years old and it started as a stick with a frayed end. The modern-day toothbrush we use now was invented in 1938.
-When it comes to choosing between a manual and electric toothbrush, your preference is all that matters.
-You can brush before you floss or you can brush after you floss. It doesn’t matter which order you clean your smile. As long as you do both tasks, you should be good to go.
-It’s best to leave your brush out in the open to air dry because it reduces the number of bacteria that gather on your brush.
-Toothbrushes only last 3-4 months.
-You should brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time.
-Even though it’s recommended to share toys, food, and other things, it’s best not to share your toothbrush.
